Time slots are not fixed on a weekly basis, but some of them are semi-fixed.

PLEASE. PLEASE AVOID CANCELLATIONS OR RESCHEDULING ON THE SAME DAY OR THE NIGHT BEFORE.

For some people, learning Spanish is like a hobby, but for me this is not a hobby or a joke, this is my job.

If you are planning to take Friday night, Saturday morning, or Sunday morning classes, please just check what has historically happened to my students at these times during all these years I have been tutoring: tooth crowns fall so they need to go to the dentist; many students don't get up because they feel sick; relatives have sudden problems so they have to travel out of town; pets get sick; boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands, and wives get sick on Saturday mornings as well; they have to stay at home waiting for some furniture delivery; some students cannot find their keys, so they can't leave their apartments; dogs (or cats or hamsters) eat their homeworks, and since they have no homework, they prefer to cancel; there are blackouts in their apartments, so they have to wait for the electricians.

I have cancelled/rescheduled less than 10 of some 2000+ classes in all these years. I have cancelled twice this year because on a Saturday and the following Sunday mornings my alarm clock didn't work!! In 2005, I didn't show up to one class because I totally forgot about that class. In 2007, I cancelled several days of classes because I broke my ankle while going to one of them, and for 3 months my students had to come to my apartment. In 2003, I didn't make it because of a snow storm.

This is what happens if you cancel:

-If you cancel a couple of hours before the class, I will be on the subway/tunnel already, and I won't even be able to read my email, text messages, or get phone call. I live in Riverdale (about 10 mins north of Inwood,) so I have to leave home really early before the first class in order to be on time in Manhattan.

-Even if you cancel a day before, or a few hours before the class, it may be too late to recover: Depending on the time and location, I will find myself on the streets trying to kill the hours between the end of my previous class, and the starting time of the next (usually 2 or 3 hours). If it's very cold or very hot out, it's not good.

-Classes that are "rescheduled" for the following week, technically are not rescheduled, are actually cancelled.

Locations:

At the following Manhattan locations: Along the number 1 train. Target store at Marble Hill, Manhattan, at 225th St. (Just at certain times), Upper West Side, Columbus Circle, Midtown, Chelsea, West Village, Union Square, Astor Place, Flatiron. Chambers near the 2/3 train station. Upper East Site at Lex and 86th only. Midtown East at Juan Valdez on 57th and Lex. If you have a Columbia University ID, at Buttler Library.

My first choice for a meeting place is at a public spot (Starbucks are the best, dinners or restaurants are not). At Starbucks, they are pretty cool if we are sitting there studying for a couple of hours, at most other places they are not. The have coffee, water, soda, restroom, air conditioning, heating.

Unfortunately, I don't own my own classroom. The advantage is that you don't have to chip in to pay the classroom's rent, like in some other places.

Availability also depends on location and transportation service conditions:
New York City Transit Service advisories.

Should we experience severe weather conditions, same day confirmation should be arranged.
